For this next essay, I chose How the Internet Has Changed Everyday Life by Zaryn Dentzel.  I’m not sure where it was original published but I happened to find it on OpenMind, a website that shares knowledge for a better future. I chose this article for my next paper because of the connecting themes it has with the rest of the articles that we have already read in class. It touches on many different topics surrounding the effects that internet has on everyday life which is a big thing that I have mentioned in both of my previous papers.

It starts out with a brief descriptions of the main things that the internet has changed in our lives. Things like talking with friends, ordering food, getting immediate news, and buying anything from a store. The sheer amount of things that have changed in everyone’s lives is incredibly large and ever expanding, which is touched upon in this article. The author also briefly talks about the start of the internet and how far it has come from where it used to be. For example, it went from just moving previously know info, back and forth, to allowing the creation and innovation of new things.

One controversial topic that this article is the one about whether or not the internet has caused a change in communication between people. It is so ingrained into everyday life, its not really a huge surprise that it may have had some effect. The author talks about their experience with internet affecting their social life and then talks a little bit about how it can be good and bad. Good because it allows everyone to share anything they want immediately and be able to almost experience it with who ever they are sharing it with. But bad because it has affected how we act with friends and family.

Another really good point that was made in this article is the connection between the internet and effect it has on education. It has opened up so many learning opportunities for those who may have never gotten them otherwise. It also allows for children and anyone for that matter, to look into things that they are more interested in. There is easier ways to reach each other now as well. Interactions between students on the internet can be much more beneficial than what is currently happening. The author mentions this same problem a little further down in the article but refers to personal relationships. Things like talking to anyone any time or talking to someone who doesn’t live near you is a huge help to building better and closer relationships.

There is a small part about the connection between internet and security/privacy.

Culture is everywhere and is usually different where ever you go. But through computers and the internet, you are able to experience any of them from where ever you are sitting.

The author also briefly mentions the effect that internet has on social and political activism. It is a huge platform that lets anyone who wants to, to put there ideas and views for any one to look at and judge.

There is so many more points being made in this article, all very important when looking the effects that internet has on everyone. This article will be very useful for my next paper and the points that I will be trying to make.
