Prompt 2: Brainstorm

In the instance of distractions, it seems to be that it’s neither good nor bad. There is no dominating fact about whether its beneficial or harmful. To show this, I will be using Sam Anderson’s “In Defense of Distraction” majorly with some points from Richard Restak’s “Attention Deficit: The Brain Syndrome of Our Era .” I will talk about how technology has a strong assistance to connecting us to friends and potential friends but also removes the likelihood of face to face conversation. I will also talk about how it increases our happiness because we get to be involved with a lot more of the world but at the same time, we have the opportunity to be saddened by comparing ourselves. It increases our opportunities for learning but also gets rid of the necessity of having to remember how to do something. Technology changes our biology by making us more curious and working faster but can ruin sleep and our contentedness. It gives us the chance to procrastinate doing an assignment but sometimes it leads to a new and better idea. Finally, I will end by talking about there not being a solution and how there doesn’t need to be one.

Good points made! Argument is persuasive and has evidence to back it up. Off to a good start.
