The only example of writing that I can use, that I have done in another class, is the reviewing of articles that I did in my anthropology class. We were assigned to pick three articles that matched a theme that we had discussed in class, to evaluate what is said in the article, and then to elaborate on our thinking. This is really the only other type of writing that I have had to do, and we also looked at sources and tried to incorporate it into our writing. I feel like I did very well with this paper because I worked harder on integrating quotes and paraphrases into the writing. I had to do a lot of personal editing because we did not have anyone to correct our papers for us. After working on our papers in English, I was able to better correct my paper and to make sure that everything is correct and written to perfection. A lot of the recursive processes and steps that we learned in class, really helped in writing this paper, because I took it into consideration before even writing the paper. This made the correcting part a lot easier. Also, taking English while writing papers for other classes, made the whole experience a lot easier. I realize that doing so much writing in English really helps to make sure that you keep skills up to date and makes it easier to actually write. All of the things that we have been working on in class, has been in my brain, so I do not have to recall rules and skills from high school and try to apply them now in college. We did not necessarily have to quote the articles directly, but we did have to paraphrase from the article. I was still using the skills that I learned in class to pick the best and most important parts and incorporating them into my paper. If I was not taking this class, I would have done fine on my paper but the editing process would have been a lot harder.
